Be prepared to be seduced by the wild and breathtaking beauty of the Garden Route, and in particular the leisurely pace and laid back lifestyle practised in the seaside town of Sedgefield. Surrounded by acres of indigenous forest, stretches of Cape fynbos, a glittering network of coastal lakes and bordered by the boundless Indian Ocean, Sedgefield offers visitors a slice of paradise. 

 

There’s plenty to do with long stretches of sandy, golden beaches to stroll along; the Swartvlei lake, lagoon and estuary for canoeing and angling; the Goukamma Nature Reserve for scenic trails runs, hikes and birdwatching; rent a rowing boat and try your luck catching bass on the Groenvlei freshwater lake or head out to Gericke's Point and snorkel in the rock pools. If you’re up for adventure, there are thrills aplenty with mountain biking trails, horse riding excursions, kite surfing and paragliding. 

 

And for those who love roaming booths and stalls piled with local produce, unique hand made crafts and treasured art, then be sure to visit one, or all, of Sedgefield’s celebrated Saturday markets: the award-winning Wild Oats Community Farmers’ Market, the Mosaic Market and the Scarab Craft Market.
